It's well known that Professor Okazaki studied many different martial arts prior to the formulation of Danzan Ryu Judo/Jujitsu. Within those arts were a variety of weapons forms that made there way into his formal system. These include the use of the Iron fan or Tetsusen, the 6 foot bo and the 3 foot Hanbo.
Since then, competency in other wooden tools, namely the Yawara stick have been added to some sanctioned curriculums. Many Danzan dojo also teach additional weapons forms including the 4ft Jo and the 24" Escrima stick.
One of the most acclaimed Filipino martial arts masters in the U.S attested to Professor Okazaki's practice and skill in the stick and knife arts of southeast asia. Many Danzan Arts teachers find the skill sets of these stick arts to be very useful in the overall development of the Danzan practitioner.
